A Bit About Erica
Erica is originally from Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She majored in Ceramics and Painting, the first time she went to college, at Marywood University in Scranton.
Erica joined the United States Army where she became a Medical Specialist/Trauma Nurse. She served for twelve years on Active Duty, eventually medically retiring. Upon retiring, she received a BA in Psychology from Marymount University and her graduate degrees in Sociology and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from American University.
During her time in the Army and going back to school, she did not touch clay. Only recently did Erica center a piece of clay for the first time in 23 years. "I immediately knew that this is where I needed to be, the moment the wobble stopped, and I began to pull the walls of my first piece in over two decades." -Erica
Currently, Erica is a long-standing Adjunct Professor of Sociology, Primary Advisor, and member of Council for the Sociology Department at American University. She is also a professional Ski Instructor with the Professional Ski Instructors of America and a nationally certified Spin Instructor with CycleBar.
Erica loves throwing functional pieces, glazing techniques and experimentation. She is so excited to bring her love of "mud therapy" to the studio and creating art with the Potters Union Community!
