A Bit About Polina
Polina grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She discovered clay in her late twenties, while navigating the cultural shock of moving to the United States to join her husband. She learned to express herself in English and in clay at the same time. She has worked with clay for over twenty years, continually learning and expanding her expressive ceramic vocabulary.
For her, working with clay is both a deep joy and an ongoing adventure, an endless exploration of form, texture, and color. She tries to make each piece truly unique, as every choice leads a step further in her creative journey.
Polina utilizes a variety of clay bodies and firing techniques, from mid-range oxidation to high-fire reduction in gas, wood, and soda kilns.
Her functional art draws inspiration from the forms and colors of the natural world—not through direct imitation, but by evoking the impressions, emotions, and quiet beauty we experience in nature, bringing warmth, joy, and a touch of that beauty into everyday homes.
She exhibits at several galleries, and regularly participates in various juried national and international ceramic shows.
